Youssef Chraibi: the entrepreneur who built Outsourcia into an outsourcing powerhouse
At 49, Youssef Chraibi (H.01) embodies a generation of HEC Paris entrepreneurs who turned the opportunities of the early digital era into lasting business success. In an interview that begins with his life as a father before turning to business, he reflects on his journey—from the dot-com boom of the early 2000s to founding Outsourcia, now one of the leading independent multilingual outsourcing providers, employing 4,300 people across Morocco, France and beyond.
From Casablanca to HEC Paris: opening up to the world
Born and raised in Casablanca, Youssef attended the prestigious Lycée Lyautey before moving to Paris to prepare for France’s competitive entrance exams at Ipesup. His ambition was simple: to keep as many doors open as possible. HEC Paris quickly emerged as the obvious choice—a place that, he believed, would broaden his horizons. It did exactly that.
On campus in Jouy-en-Josas, he discovered the entrepreneurial buzz of the late 1990s. One encounter proved decisive. During a guest talk, he met Loïc Le Meur, already one of France’s internet pioneers. “I told him I was fascinated by dot-coms and wanted to leave investment banking. Two weeks later, I was in his office working on a new venture.” That willingness to create his own opportunities would become a defining feature of his career.
The first venture: Marketo and the dot-com years
At just 24, Youssef co-founded Marketo.com alongside Loïc Le Meur and Jean-Jacques Bresson. The company was one of Europe’s first B2B digital marketplaces—well ahead of its time. Raising €10 million at such an early stage was an extraordinary achievement and attracted the attention of Bernard Arnault. Marketo was later acquired by Vivendi.
Looking back, however, Youssef remembers the experience with mixed emotions. The media attention was exhilarating, but the volatility of the internet bubble also taught him to distinguish between publicity and genuine value creation. After stepping away from the venture, he returned to HEC Paris to complete his degree while taking time to reflect on building a business that would be more sustainable, more tangible and ultimately more useful.

Outsourcia: born in Morocco, designed for the world
In 2003, Youssef launched Outsourcia as a consulting firm helping companies reduce costs through offshore solutions. Before long, however, he realised the real opportunity lay elsewhere. “I understood that I didn’t want to be a consultant—I wanted to be an operator.”
Rather than advising businesses, he built one capable of delivering outsourced services directly, beginning with customer contact centres before expanding into back-office operations and a growing portfolio of business services. His ambition was straightforward: create a profitable, self-financed company from day one, starting with just €10,000 in capital. The strategy paid off. Outsourcia achieved a 20% profit margin in its first year and grew rapidly. Today, the company employs thousands of people across Morocco, France, Tunisia and Madagascar, serving major international clients including TotalEnergies, Renault, Vinted and Manutan.
Embracing artificial intelligence through a hybrid model
While artificial intelligence is reshaping industries worldwide, Youssef sees opportunity rather than disruption. Through OutsourcIA Lab, the company has developed expertise in integrating AI into customer experience solutions. Yet, in his view, technology itself represents only a small part of the equation. “In an AI project, the technology accounts for only 10% of the value,” he explains. Success depends far more on functional integration, data quality and the training of AI models—while ensuring that human expertise remains firmly in control. It is a pragmatic vision in which technology enhances, rather than replaces, people.
Far from eliminating jobs, he believes AI can actually create new ones, since deploying, supervising and continuously improving these systems still requires significant human expertise.

Building relationships that last
Beyond growth figures and strategy, what stands out most is the importance Youssef places on long-term relationships—with both employees and clients. Asked whether he has a favourite client, his answer comes without hesitation. “Manutan has been with us since we were a very small company twenty years ago.” For him, such enduring partnerships are built not only on operational excellence, but also on trust and the quality of human relationships.
A measured entrepreneur looking ahead
Youssef describes himself as a cautious entrepreneur—but never a timid one. That measured approach has enabled him to anticipate change, innovate continuously and adapt to shifting economic and technological landscapes without losing sight of the fundamentals.
His ambitions for the coming years are clear: sustain double-digit growth (Outsourcia generated €57 million in revenue in 2025), support the responsible deployment of artificial intelligence, and continue demonstrating that the future of business will be neither purely human nor purely technological. “The future can only be hybrid.”
